Welp, our pre-Halloween weekend plans hit a little snag, as I’m sure lots of yours did too. A number of trunk-or-treats and other events were canceled in advance because of the storm in the forecast, even though the weather ended up cooperating for most of the weekend. We’ll be keeping an eye out for any rescheduled dates and we’ll be sure to share them!

As long as the weather behaves this Friday, I’ll be happy! If I remember right, all but one of the Halloweens since we moved here in 2020 have had pretty great weather, so here’s hoping this one turns out to be another perfect night for trick-or-treating. The countdown is officially on in our household! 🎃

🏙️ Round Rock OKs downtown zoning overhaul

The Gist:
Round Rock City Council has approved its first major update to downtown zoning in nearly a decade, rezoning 114 parcels to allow taller buildings and more diverse uses. Structures can now reach up to 8 stories along May Street and Round Rock Avenue, and 12 stories near I-35, with new rules requiring public plazas or courtyards in high-rises.

Why It Matters:
The changes aim to balance growth with community character while giving property owners more flexibility to shape downtown’s future. Feels like a bold new chapter for Round Rock’s city core.

Deerpark Middle School counselor Marisa Cano also earned the prestigious Presidential Award for her outstanding leadership and impact.
