Hi Neighbors!

We’re so excited to announce that we just launched a new section on our website called Community Voices. It’s a space for locals to share something good.

Think:

  • A shoutout to someone who went above and beyond

  • A fun recap of a local event

  • A personal story or reflection

  • A unique experience you had around town

  • Anything that shows what makes our community special

No rants. No drama. Just real stories that lift us up.

Let’s spread more good news — we’ve got plenty of it! 💗

In today’s Scoop:

  • 🚗 Georgetown Launches rideGTX Program

  • 💧 Hutto Revisits Legacy Park Plan

  • 🛒 The Caring Place – Georgetown

🚰 Round Rock Water Line Flush

Starting May 27, Round Rock will temporarily switch its water disinfectant from chloramine to free chlorine to keep the system clean and safe. The change, lasting through June 27, may cause a slight chlorine smell or taste, but the water remains safe to drink and use.

The routine flush helps prevent buildup in pipes and ensures water quality during warmer months. If water appears cloudy, running cold taps for a few minutes can help. Special care is advised for fish tanks and sensitive medical equipment. Just a friendly FYI to keep everyone in the loop. Read more here.

💧 Hutto Revisits Legacy Park Plan

Hutto City Council recently revisited the proposed Legacy Park development. The 94-acre project includes multifamily units, light industrial, and retail near Samsung’s Taylor site. Developers are requesting to move the site into Hutto’s water service area, currently held by Jonah Water, to support 587 living unit equivalents.

Council previously shared mixed views about expanding outside city boundaries. No final decision has been made, but developers are revising their proposal to address concerns and continue the conversation with council at a future meeting. Read more here.

🚗 Georgetown Launches rideGTX Program

Georgetown now offers discounted Uber and zTrip rides through a program called rideGTX.

  • Get 10 discounted rides each month using a QR code from the city.

  • Valid for trips anywhere in Georgetown, plus rides to Baylor Scott & White or Ascension Seton in Round Rock.

  • You pay the first $4—the city covers the next $10. Anything over $14 is on you.

Why it matters: Georgetown doesn’t have buses anymore, so this helps folks get around—especially seniors, students, and anyone without a car.

They’re testing it for 3 years. If lots of people use it, the city might expand the program.

Also new: AskGTX, an app to report issues, ask questions, or find city info—all in one place. Read more here.
