Hope y’all managed to stay warm during the big freeze. We’re pretty lucky that we don’t see weather like this too often around here, so when it does hit, it’s definitely a shock to the system.
Like many districts in the area, we had snow days yesterday and today, which feels like a nice little bonus. It’s given us a chance to slow down, stay home, and squeeze in some extra family time. Hopefully most of you were able to stay off the icy roads and ended up snuggling on the couch, cooking something warm, and playing in the snow like us!

🏗️ Rezoning opens door near Old Settlers Park

The Gist: Round Rock City Council approved rezoning a 3.86-acre site along East Palm Valley Boulevard to allow limited commercial use near Old Settlers Park. The change updates the city’s comprehensive plan and future land use map but does not approve any specific project.
Why It Matters: This gives the city flexibility as development continues around one of Round Rock’s most active park areas. It’s another small but telling sign of how the area around Old Settlers Park is evolving.
🏛️ Georgetown eyes new future for historic jail

The Gist: Georgetown City Council gave preliminary approval to rezone the historic Williamson County Jail site at 102 W. Third St. to fully mixed use downtown. The county began preparing the 1888 jail for reuse last year and hopes to eventually sell the property. Potential future uses could include a boutique hotel or restaurant, though the site’s high-priority historic status brings added preservation oversight.
Why It Matters: This opens the door to reinvestment in the heart of downtown while protecting one of Georgetown’s oldest landmarks. It’s a step toward giving a historic space new life.

Simply Super Indian Cuisine & Bar has quietly landed and it’s already winning people over. The rumali roti is a must, paper-thin, soft, and perfect for scooping up richly spiced curries. Pulaos are fragrant and filling without feeling heavy, and dishes range from mild to boldly spicy.
Everything tastes fresh, thoughtfully cooked, and rooted in tradition, the kind of place you plan to return to.
🍜 A Fresh Taste of Thailand

708 S Austin Ave, Georgetown
Georgetown finally has the vibrant Asian flavors it was missing. Located right on the square, Sorn Thai Kitchen offers a moody, cozy atmosphere that is perfect for a date night or catching the game at the bar.
The Sorn rolls and Panang curry are standout choices, while the spicy Tiger Cry packs a wonderful punch. It is a family-run gem where the recipes feel personal and the service is top notch.
