🛣️ Round Rock goes after major road funding

The Gist: Round Rock is seeking $55 million in federal grant funding to help pay for four road projects with a total cost of about $93 million. City Council approved the grant applications Jan. 8. The projects include extending Deep Wood Drive, widening North Mays Street, and building two new segments of Kenney Fort Boulevard.
Why It Matters: These projects would ease congestion and improve key connections as Round Rock continues to grow. Any step toward smoother drives around town is a win most locals can get behind.
🏬 Rezoning clears path for Round Rock shopping center

The Gist: Round Rock City Council approved rezoning and annexation for about nine acres near Gattis School Road and South Kenney Fort Boulevard. The change allows for a future small retail center, with developers estimating 30,000 to 40,000 square feet of shops, offices, and restaurants. Only part of the land will be developed due to floodplain limits.
Why It Matters: This could mean more everyday services closer to home for east Round Rock neighbors. At the same time, nearby residents shared concerns about traffic, noise, and safety, which is understandable when changes like this happen so close to where people live. Ongoing communication will be key as the project moves forward.

300 Hesters Crossing Rd, Round Rock
AustIndia is a polished spot for North Indian favorites with a bar-style setup that feels current but comfortable. Kebabs arrive hot and well grilled, curries are rich without feeling heavy, and the naan and kulcha are soft with just the right char.
Drinks and mocktails add something fun to the meal, and ordering from your phone keeps things easy. It’s a great choice for a relaxed lunch or a dressed-up dinner without the fuss.

🍜 Pho, garlic noodles, and easy favorites

150 Alliance Blvd Suite 240, Hutto
Bites & Basil has quickly become a go-to for comforting Vietnamese dishes with a little extra polish. The pho is rich and deeply flavored, with broths that taste slow-cooked and cared for.
Garlic noodles, bun bo hue, and charbroiled meats are popular picks, and small plates like crispy calamari and chicken skin keep things fun. Add in crepe cakes and cocktails, and it’s an easy place to return to again and again.
