Recognition for Connecting with Residents
The City of Round Rock’s Communications and Marketing Department was honored with nine awards at the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) conference, held June 4–6 in Fort Worth. The annual awards spotlight outstanding municipal communications across Texas.
Of the nine awards, five were first-place wins—two of which recognized work from the Round Rock Police Department’s Public Information Office.
“Our goal is to make local government understandable and accessible, even when the issues are complex,” said Sara Bustilloz, the city’s Director of Communications and Marketing.

Best Regular or Recurring Video Program
“Hey, Downtown!”—a recurring video series that spotlights local businesses and drives traffic to the city’s downtown website.Best Use of Vertical Video
Round Rock Police’s use of short-form video on Instagram and Facebook to share safety tips and behind-the-scenes looks at police work.Best Use of Photography
A photo series commemorating the 9/11 Stair Climb and Flag Memorial, capturing powerful moments of tribute and reflection.Crisis Communications

“Ahead of the Game,” a sports-themed explainer video about the city’s FY25 budget and tax rate.

Each effort shared a common goal: keeping Round Rock residents informed, engaged, and connected.
