🎾 Round Rock just got a summer upgrade

Happy almost Mother’s Day to all the moms, grandmas, bonus moms, stepmoms, foster moms, mother figures, and women who love, guide, and show up for the people around them.

Being a mom has been the greatest gift of my life. I don’t know exactly how I pictured motherhood before becoming a mom myself, but it’s safe to say it has exceeded anything I could have imagined.

I’m lucky enough to be raising two of the kindest, most thoughtful, and most empathetic kids in the world, and for that I’m forever grateful. They’ve taught me patience, perspective, and how much joy can be found in the smallest everyday moments.

This week, I hope all the moms and mother figures out there feel celebrated, appreciated, and reminded of just how much their love matters. And for anyone carrying a complicated kind of Mother’s Day this year, I hope the weekend is gentle with you, too. 🩷

The Gist: Round Rock City Council approved a $4.4 million street maintenance contract to improve roads in Chisholm Valley, Windy Park, Stone Oak, and Indian Ridge. Work includes asphalt overlays, pavement patching, and curb, sidewalk, and driveway repairs, with construction starting in May.

Why It Matters: Road repairs may not be flashy, but smoother streets make daily life better for all of us, from safer walks to less wear on cars. It’s the kind of steady investment neighbors notice one commute at a time.

The Gist: Just in time for summer, Round Rock has a new place for families to play, rally, and run off some energy. Old Settlers Park is now home to the new and improved Joanne Land Playground, the city’s largest playground, along with new tennis and pickleball courts, extra parking, and more room for neighbors to get outside.

Why It Matters: This is a win lots of families will feel right away. More places for kids to climb, more courts for a quick game with friends, and more reasons to spend an easy afternoon at the park. As summer gets closer, it’s nice to have another spot in town where everyone can move, play, and enjoy being outside together.
