💦 Rock’N River just got even better

We’re a couple weeks into summer, and this might be the best part. The kids are still thrilled to be home, the days feel wide open, and nobody’s counting down the final days just yet.

The weather’s still cooperating too, before we hit peak Texas heat, which makes this the perfect window for patios, parks, pools, splash pads, ice cream runs and slow summer evenings. There’s plenty of season left, and I hope y’all are enjoying it as much as we are!

The Gist: Rock’N River Waterpark in Round Rock has completed the latest phase of its expansion project, adding a new 775-foot action river, private cabanas, a private pool, shade structures, and additional parking. The upgrades increase the park’s capacity from about 1,600 guests to 2,400. The project was funded through the city’s 2023 voter-approved bond package and is part of a broader plan that will eventually connect the water park to a future Athletic Performance Center.

Why It Matters: This is such a fun summer update, especially for families looking for an easy day trip or a new spot to cool off. Rock’N River was already on our list of places to check out this summer, but this definitely moves it closer to the top! More room, more shade, more parking, and a new action river all sound like exactly what a Texas summer calls for.

The Gist: City leaders and YMCA officials broke ground May 29 on the new Sport Clips Family YMCA in Georgetown. The 55,000-square-foot facility will be the city’s first full-service YMCA, with space for youth programs, fitness, family activities, senior wellness services, and everyday community connection. The project has been in the works for several years and is supported through voter-approved bond funding, private donations, and YMCA investments.

Why It Matters: Georgetown keeps growing, and this gives families, kids, seniors, and neighbors another place to gather, stay active, and feel connected. From youth programs and fitness classes to senior wellness and family activities, the new YMCA is designed to serve people at every stage of life.
