The last week of school always brings such a mix of emotions.

Mostly, I’m thrilled that I get to have my babies home with me for the summer. I’m ready for slower mornings, little adventures, and extra time together. But it’s also so bittersweet because they’re growing up so fast. Somehow, after this week, I’ll have a second grader and a fourth grader!

We wrapped up the year with Field Day at Reunion Ranch this past week, which was such a fun reminder of how special this season is. If you haven’t been, it’s truly an incredible venue.

Here’s to summer, sweet memories, and soaking up these next 12 weeks while we can.

🛍️ Hutto lands massive new shopping center

The Gist: Hutto has signed a deal for what leaders say will become the city’s largest shopping center, called Cottonwood Marketplace. The development brings shopping and dining plans to a major city-owned tract, even as a separate $300 million lawsuit tied to a previous developer remains ongoing.

Why It Matters: A lot of Hutto residents still leave town for shopping, restaurants, and errands. City leaders see this as a step toward keeping more business, jobs, and tax revenue local as the community keeps growing fast.

🏫 Pflugerville ISD votes to close schools

The Gist: Pflugerville ISD voted to close four elementary schools starting in the 2027-28 school year as the district works to close major budget gaps. The schools on the list are Dessau Elementary, Pflugerville Elementary, Parmer Lane Elementary, and Windermere Elementary.

Why It Matters: For families at these schools, this is a big and emotional change. Parents are already asking where their kids will go next, and teachers and students are facing a lot of uncertainty. These campuses have been part of everyday life for years, from morning drop-offs to school events to the friendships families build along the way.
