District invites naming nominations for new campuses
Georgetown ISD is calling on community members to help name its two newest schools, a middle school and an elementary school, scheduled to open in August 2026. The district began accepting name nominations on November 4 and will continue through November 14.
Both campuses, located off Patriot Way and State Highway 130 near East View High School, broke ground in May. They will serve as the district’s 12th elementary school and 5th middle school, expanding capacity to meet Georgetown’s rapid student growth.
How the naming process works
Community members can submit nominations through the district’s online forms. Each suggested name must align with one of several criteria, such as honoring:
A historical or geographical site or community
A local, state, or national historical event or place
A significant local, state, or national figure
An individual who has made notable contributions to education within Georgetown ISD
Submissions recognizing a person or location must include a brief written explanation of the name’s significance. District staff will review all nominations and present recommendations to the GISD Board of Trustees for approval.
Superintendent Devin Padavil encouraged residents to take part in the process, calling it “one of the most meaningful ways we can celebrate our community’s history, values, and people.”
Preparing for rezoning and new growth
The district will begin rezoning students to the new campuses this month, with an initial boundary proposal presented at the November 4 board workshop and posted publicly on November 6. Families can share feedback through upcoming town hall meetings beginning November 10 or through future online surveys.
Funding for the $64.9 million middle school and $38.4 million elementary school came from the district’s $649 million bond package approved by voters in 2024. The two new campuses will accommodate approximately 950 middle school students and 850 elementary students once completed for the 2026–27 school year.
