Five-year investment plan

Dell Technologies is planning $25 million in improvements at its Round Rock headquarters over the next five years. The project will include expansion, new construction, and renovations across the company’s main campus at 1 Dell Way, according to Round Rock Chamber officials.

The plan was announced Aug. 28 as Round Rock City Council unanimously approved nominating Dell as a qualified enterprise project under the Texas Enterprise Zone Program.

Program incentives

The state program offers sales and use tax refunds to encourage investment and job creation in distressed areas. Communities the size of Round Rock can nominate up to six companies per biennium.

If approved, Dell would be eligible to receive up to $2,500 per job, or roughly $1.25 million in maximum refunds, based on retaining or creating up to 500 jobs. The company has also committed to hiring 35% of new or replacement employees from economically disadvantaged groups, veterans, or enterprise zone residents.

Dell’s local footprint

Dell has been nominated five previous times under the program. Past projects have since reached their time limits, giving the company another five-year window for potential benefits. Round Rock has made 10 total nominations over the years, most recently in 2022 for Fisher Rousemont Systems.

Dell remains the largest employer in Round Rock, a city of about 135,000 just north of Austin. While the company has reported record revenues fueled by demand for artificial intelligence solutions, $29.8 billion in the second quarter of 2025, it has also reduced its global workforce. Federal filings show Dell has cut about 25,000 jobs since early 2023, a 19% decline.

Next steps for Round Rock HQ

In recent weeks, Dell has filed state construction documents for renovation and expansion work at multiple buildings on its Round Rock campus. The planned improvements coincide with the company’s ongoing restructuring and shifting workforce strategy.
