🛣️ Major Road Work in East Round Rock
Big road upgrades are coming to Round Rock! The city is putting $293M into road projects over the next five years, and you’ve probably seen some of the work happening—$121.9M worth is already under construction. Big expansions on Gattis School Road and Red Bud Lane should help with traffic and keep up with the city’s growth. Another $171.8M in projects is still in the design phase, so there’s plenty more on the way. It might be a pain now, but hopefully, it’ll be worth it when it’s all done!
💰 GISD Reduces FY 2024-25 Deficit
Good news for Georgetown ISD—the budget gap is getting smaller! The district has brought its shortfall down from $4.5M to under $1M, thanks to higher attendance rates and property tax revenue. Enrollment growth is helping too, although there are still some challenges ahead, especially with possible changes to the homestead exemption.
🚗 Hutto Considers Paid Parking
The Hutto City Council is exploring paid parking options for downtown to address limited space. While some businesses worry it could deter customers, others support alternatives like an offsite parking garage. Discussions also include potential costs and enforcement. But don't worry- they're planning a town hall soon so everyone can share their thoughts before any decisions are made. More details here.

Cork & Barrel turned their old wine cellar into Round Rock's coolest secret, The Dead Poet. Push the right book on a shelf, and enter a 1920s-style speakeasy. Classic cocktails, unique signatures, and bar snacks await. The owners nailed the formula: scarcity + secrecy = instant buzz.
Odds Bar + Bistro
Food Network host John Green opened Odds Bar + Bistro in Round Rock, serving elevated bar food and unique drinks. The menu features familiar dishes with unique twists, like 24-hour brined wings and slow-cooked short ribs, alongside reimagined classic cocktails.
