The Gist: As part of early budget talks, Georgetown city staff proposed closing River Ridge Pool due to low usage and high costs. The pool requires nearly $200,000 in future repairs, and it already operates at the highest cost per admission among city pools.

Why It Matters: With the city facing major financial pressures, closing the pool could help avoid a projected $80 million deficit while preserving other key services.

Love Serve Feed is supporting recovery crews and displaced families at two Georgetown RV parks hit by severe flooding. Over 130 homes were affected.

Here’s how to help:

🥫 Donate shelf-stable food — snacks, meal bars, fruit, water, and electrolytes to fuel volunteers and residents

🍽 Provide hot meals — cook at home or order from a local restaurant to serve fresh on-site

🚗 Help deliver food — transport meals from local restaurants or the Jonah Community Center to cleanup crews

💛 Volunteer on-site — serve meals and organize supplies

🙌 Great for youth groups or service hours — especially Friday through Sunday when extra hands are needed

The Picklr, which opened in January, feels less like a facility and more like the local hangout. It offers eight clean courts, daily clinics, and open play that’s competitive without the ego. Locals found it fast, and now it’s busy every night.

Membership includes leagues, lessons, paddle demos, and actual service. The staff remembers your name. It’s right off the highway next to Sharetea, so grabbing boba after a match is part of the routine! Read more here.

Tiny Texan Exchange is bringing something sweet to Hutto this July; a cozy, family-friendly shop filled with gently-used kids’ clothes, toys, maternity gear, and more. Owned by local couple Stephannie and Steven Trudeau, the space will double as a community hub with story times, shopping events, and even rentals for baby showers or birthday parties.
