🧸 A favorite resale shop is making its comeback

Hi neighbors, I hope everyone had a fun and safe Fourth of July weekend!

One thing I’ve learned since moving to Texas is that this state does not do holidays halfway. From fireworks and parades to cookouts, lake days, and live music, Texas has a way of making everything feel a little bigger and a lot more festive.

There’s something special about a holiday that gets people outside, brings neighbors together, and reminds us to slow down and enjoy the summer. I hope yours had plenty of good food, good company, and maybe even a nap afterward.

The Gist: Once Upon a Child is coming back to Round Rock after closing in September 2025. The children’s resale shop plans to reopen in its former Renaissance Square spot under new management. Before the store officially reopens for shoppers, it is targeting early August to begin buying gently used kids’ clothes, shoes, toys, and baby gear from customers.

Why It Matters: If you’ve ever blinked and realized your kid outgrew half their closet, this is good news. Once Upon a Child has always been one of those helpful parent stops for gently used clothes, toys, shoes, and baby gear without paying brand-new prices. Being able to sell a few things they’ve outgrown and maybe find the next size up later is a pretty nice win for local families.

The Gist: Williamson County has launched its 2026 Community Survey, giving residents a chance to weigh in on county services and quality of life. The survey takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and participants can enter a drawing to win a $500 prepaid Visa gift card. Hutto's dining scene just got a little more flavorful. Rice Stop brings together Chinese and Vietnamese favorites under one roof, with generous portions and a menu that makes repeat visits easy. Popular picks include sesame chicken, drunken noodles, Mongolian beef, fried rice, bánh mì, and lo mein, all served fresh and full of flavor.

The family-run restaurant has already made a strong first impression with friendly service, fair prices, and plenty of choices for every appetite. It's a welcome addition for anyone looking to mix up their usual lunch or dinner routine.

Austin’s packs a full day of entertainment into one place, with go-karts, mini golf, arcade games, batting cages, rides, rock climbing, and plenty more to keep all ages busy. It’s an especially great summer stop for kids who need to burn off energy, stay busy, and do something a little different from the usual pool day.

Families love that kids can stay active while adults relax with food, drinks, or a game of pool. I’d recommend visiting on weekdays for a more laid-back experience, making it even easier to enjoy everything without the bigger crowds.
