There’s something magical about summer around here. Neighbors wave. Someone’s always grilling. The kids bounce between bike rides and sprinkler runs.
Friends turn into family. Weekends fill up with music, markets, and backyard hangouts.
I guess I’m just feeling a little extra grateful— for slower mornings, fun little projects, and having the kids home for the summer with nowhere we have to be. These are the days we’ll wish we could bottle up.

Good news for Round Rock neighbors hit hard by past floods—Dam 101 along Lake Creek is nearly complete. Located east of O’Connor Drive, it’s nearly a mile long and four stories tall, designed to ease flood risks for over 1,000 homes. Built after years of planning, the project will help protect neighborhoods like Greater Round Rock West.
Once finished, FEMA may update floodplain maps, potentially lowering insurance rates for families who’ve weathered too many storms with crossed fingers. Read more here.
Pflugerville just refinanced $20 million in bond debt—saving $1.8 million over time. Starting in 2028, that’s $122,000 a year back into the city’s budget. This move gives Pflugerville more flexibility to manage taxes, fund key projects, and improve services—without extra cost to residents.
By locking in lower interest rates now, the City is stretching every tax dollar a little further. It’s one more way Pflugerville is planning wisely and looking ahead to a stronger, more sustainable future. Read more here.
Facing a projected $80 million general fund shortfall by FY 2027-28, Georgetown officials are exploring new fees, potential tax increases, and city service cuts. At a recent City Council workshop, City Manager David Morgan emphasized that no decisions are final, but proactive planning is needed.
Strategies include library fees, reducing staff perks, and trimming events or facility operations. Despite sizable reserves, forecasts show Georgetown could dip deep into them by 2026. A budget preview is planned for 07/08. Read more here.
