Officials in Georgetown announced plans for a 3-mile waterline along CR 255, intended to serve about 25,000 water customers in the city’s northwest area. The announcement came during a press conference on January 29.
Project details
The project includes constructing a 30-inch diameter waterline connecting to the Daniels Mountain water storage tank. It will also tie into an existing 30-inch line on CR 289 and Ronald Reagan Boulevard. The total cost of the project is $10.6 million, with $3.5 million provided in federal funding through U.S. Rep. John Carter and the remaining $7.1 million funded by the city.
Carter highlighted the importance of ensuring a reliable water supply in one of the fastest-growing areas of Texas, emphasizing that growth requires both homes and workplaces supported by adequate infrastructure.
Expected impact
The waterline is located in a high-growth section of Georgetown’s water utility territory. The northwest part of the city has seen multiple residential and commercial developments along the Ronald Reagan corridor. Mayor Josh Schroeder noted that new water infrastructure is essential for continued economic development, enabling the construction of homes and the opening of businesses in the area.
