Program overview

Operation Front Porch is back for the holiday season, giving Round Rock residents a secure way to receive packages. The program began on Monday, Nov. 17 and continues through Friday, Dec. 19. During this period, residents can ship their holiday deliveries directly to the Round Rock Police Department and pick them up at no cost.

How it works

To participate, residents should address their packages as follows:
[Your Name]
Round Rock Police Department
2701 North Mays Street
Round Rock, TX 78665

Pickups are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday pickup is offered only on Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There is no pickup on Sundays or from Nov. 27 through Nov. 30 due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Packages must be collected within three days of arrival, and the final day to retrieve items is Dec. 19.

Requirements and eligibility

Only Round Rock residents are eligible to use the service. Packages must weigh under 50 pounds, and the name on the pickup ID must match the name on the mailing label. To retrieve a package, residents need a government issued ID, proof of order or shipment, and if picking up for a child, proof of guardianship or the child’s ID.

Additional safety resource

The police department also maintains a year round Safety Exchange Zone for people meeting to complete online marketplace transactions such as Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace purchases.

Operation Front Porch offers a simple way to keep holiday deliveries safe during the busiest shipping season of the year.
