The City of Round Rock has greenlit a $2.18 million construction project to build a new maintenance facility at Old Settlers Park, located at 3300 E. Palm Valley Blvd. The facility will consist of a warehouse, a remote site, and a pole barn, all aimed at improving the city’s ability to maintain the growing 640-acre park.
Construction will begin with fencing and utility installations, as site preparation is scheduled to start soon. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance park operations amid ongoing development.
The project is being funded through voter-approved bonds, demonstrating continued community investment in public recreation spaces. City officials noted they’re closely monitoring expenses, citing ongoing economic uncertainty and inflation in construction costs. To address this, the council has approved a guaranteed maximum price contract to help avoid budget overruns.
This maintenance facility is a foundational piece of a larger, phased expansion planned for Old Settlers Park through 2027. Upcoming upgrades include new trails, shaded pavilions, pickleball courts, and other outdoor amenities intended to accommodate increasing visitor numbers and diverse recreational needs.
City leaders see this infrastructure as critical to supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term park sustainability.
