Lulu's Pie Shoppe has established its first brick-and-mortar location at 305 South Main Street in Georgetown's historic downtown district. The 1,200-square-foot space features a vintage-inspired interior with an open kitchen design that allows customers to watch pies being crafted throughout the day.
Owner and head baker Louise "Lulu" Martinez previously operated as a farmers market vendor and home-based business before opening the permanent location. The bakery's recipes originate from Martinez's great-grandmother, with many traditional techniques preserved in their current preparations.
The shop offers a rotating selection of 8-12 pie varieties daily, with staples including classic apple, southern pecan, and chocolate cream. Seasonal specialties highlight local produce such as Hill Country peaches, Central Texas blackberries, and regional pecans.
Individual hand pies and slices start at $5.50, with whole pies ranging from $24-$32 depending on variety and season. The menu also includes fresh-baked cookies, muffins, and scones alongside specialty coffee drinks made with beans from local roaster Cuvée Coffee.
Beyond retail sales, Lulu's has quickly become known for its interactive baking workshops and community events. Monthly pie-making classes accommodate 12 participants and typically sell out weeks in advance. Special workshops for children and family groups are available on weekend mornings.
"We believe that baking connects generations and builds community," said Martinez. "Some of my fondest memories are making pies with my grandmother, and we want to help families create those same experiences."
The shop has created eight jobs and established partnerships with several area farms for seasonal ingredients. A portion of proceeds from their monthly "Community Pie" special supports local nonprofit organizations, with Georgetown Animal Shelter as their inaugural partner.
Lulu's Pie Shoppe operates Tuesday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 6 PM, Saturday from 8 AM to 7 PM, and Sunday from 9 AM to 3 PM. Pre-orders for whole pies are recommended, especially for holidays and special occasions, and can be placed by calling (512) 863-7454 or through their website at luluspieshoppe.com.
