The Griffith Building in downtown Round Rock is wrapping up a significant remodel, bringing fresh purpose to one of the city's historic structures. Located near the new library, the building’s restoration includes crucial upgrades while maintaining its classic architectural charm.
During the renovation, crews discovered mold and water damage linked to aging windows. City officials recently approved a window replacement plan to preserve the building's historic appearance while ensuring long-term durability. These new windows are designed to blend seamlessly with the original facade, offering both aesthetic continuity and improved function.
Once renovations are complete this fall, the building will reopen with several new community features. Plans include an art gallery, a new visitor center, and offices for the Round Rock Chamber. These additions aim to make the building a welcoming space for the residents and newcomers.
As part of the project, a new paseo—and pedestrian pathway—will link nearby downtown streets and directly connect to the new Round Rock Public Library. This aligns with the city’s broader goals of enhancing downtown access and creating a more walkable environment for the community.
