Tucked inside a small retail strip at 3200 Greenlawn Blvd., Ste. 300, Round Rock, Arepitas has been dishing up Venezuelan staples since late May 2021. Owners José Colmenares and José Seijas set out to share family recipes—everything from corn-meal arepas to tropical juices—while tailoring portion sizes to Texas appetites.
Made-to-order arepas arrive hot off the griddle, then split and generously stuffed with choices such as Black Angus sirloin, shredded chicken, or sweet plantains and queso fresco.
The kitchen’s Pabellón empanada—black beans, shredded beef, plantains, and cheese inside a crisp corn pocket—has become a crowd favorite, sharing menu space with rotating specials like pork-belly bites and fried yuca.
Diners looking beyond handhelds often go for the Parrillita Bowl, a platter-style mix of steak, grilled chicken, avocado, fresh cheese, and cilantro-garlic sauce.
Don’t skip dessert: the house guava pie and tres-leches cake add a tropical finish to the meal. (Sweets frequently rotate, so ask what’s cooling in the case.)
Seating is relaxed—order at the counter, grab a soda or passion-fruit juice, and settle into the bright dining room or the covered patio out front.
Hours: Mon–Thu 11 a.m.–9 p.m.; Fri & Sat 11 a.m.–10 p.m.; closed Sunday.
Take-out and delivery are popular on busy weeknights, and the restaurant’s bilingual staff is quick with menu guidance for first-timers.
Arepitas expands the city’s food map beyond Tex-Mex and barbecue, offering an approachable entry to Venezuelan flavors crafted with scratch-made care. Whether you’re craving a quick weekday lunch or a leisurely family dinner, this locally owned spot makes “dinner at a friend’s place” feel literal—complete with a to-go box for tomorrow’s lunch.
